Using FTP for backup

7 December, 2023

For our users of virtual and dedicated servers, we provide the opportunity to use an additional 50 GB of disk space on a separate server specifically for backups. This offers a unique space for storing important data and ensures optimal backup management.

An important point is that this option includes automatic backups. It is rather an additional storage provided via FTP protocol, which you can use to store your own backup data. Setting up regular backups can be done through the control panel or by writing your own script.

To activate the FTP storage, go to your control panel:

  • [Link to control panel] -> My VDS/VDS -> select your server -> go to the “Server Management” tab.
  • In the FTP BACKUP section, select the country where the backup storage will be located.

It is important to emphasize that the choice of country does not affect the functionality of the storage and depends only on your preferences. Both storages can be used simultaneously.

  • After selecting the country, enable the storage by clicking the corresponding switch.

It should be noted that if there are files in the storage, disabling it will lead to irreversible deletion. In the information block [1], you can track the usage of the storage disk space. The authorization data block [3] provides the necessary information for connection, such as server (host) and login. This data can be used along with the set password to access the FTP storage. Block [4] allows specifying an additional IP address for accessing the FTP storage. In block [5], all allowed IP addresses that are permitted to connect to the FTP storage are listed.
