To perform the procedure for your site, the user must be in the control panel. The algorithm of actions is as follows:
- Go to the WEB settings section and select “Edit Domain”.
- In it, you need to check the “SSL Support” option.
- The user fills in the fields “SSL Certificate”, “Key”, “SSL Certification Authority” (if such information is available).
- If the SSL certificate was purchased from a service provider, the user needs to find the archive received after the order. From there, the information from the fullchain.pem file is transferred to the first line, from privkey.pem to the second line, and from rootcert.crt or intermediatecert.crt to the third line. The certificate files can be opened in any text editor, for example, “Notepad”.
- You can additionally check “HTTP to HTTPS Redirect” for automatic redirection of requests to the HTTPS protocol from the site. In this case, there is no need to additionally configure the site using the .htaccess plugin.
- Save the changes. The SSL certificate will load quickly, and information about it will be displayed to the user.
The third-party service sslshopper will help check the status of the installed certificate and provide a report if the SSL is installed correctly and is functioning properly.
